Why Some Couples Skip Having a Bridal Party
One result of couples longing for more personal and unique nuptials is that many traditions fall to the wayside. The bouquet toss is not as common, and even the wedding cake sometimes gives way to a plentiful dessert table. Another custom some brides and grooms have decided to forgo is that of the wedding party. As much as we love the photos of the bride and her bridesmaids, we can see why people would make the choice. Having honor attendants can be a wonderful thing and lead to plenty of memories surrounding your engagement and the big day itself, but if the only reason you’ve been planning to ask close friends to stand by your side is because you thought you had to, we want you to know there is another way.
Without bridesmaids, you do not have to worry about deciding between your friends and feel like you’re ranking them. No one’s feelings can be hurt because they didn’t make the cut if there was no cut to being with! The overall stress levels surrounding the day can also decrease without a bridal party. There’s no tension about someone not following through with their promises, and no one will call you a bridezilla due to demands you felt were reasonable. You can trust everyone will wear a guest-appropriate ensemble rather having to wrangle everyone and make sure they purchased or rented the outfits on time. Generally, it allows your closest friends to simply enjoy the day.
The actual wedding experience can also be improved with this decision, provided that it is the right choice for you and your future spouse. Anxious people or introverts may prefer a more relaxing morning by getting ready alone, or even together with their beloved. Those having a more casual or relaxed wedding may find that skipping a bridal party fits the vibe better. In addition, it puts the focus solely on the couple and their marriage. If you are not into listening to a number of toasts at the reception, there’s no maid of honor or best man to stand up. On the other end of the spectrum, not having a wedding party lifts the restrictions on speeches and allows anyone to say a few words if you choose to announce an open mic.
